UC Irvine Extension serves close to 3,000 international students from more than 30 countries
In many countries around the world. and in many cities throughout the United States, the best known part of UC Irvine often is UC Irvine Extension.
UC Irvine Extension has always played a
significant role in the workforce development of adult
professionals in
Increasingly, Extension is broadening its reach by serving the continuing education needs of learners worldwide.
Each year, Extension serves close to 3,000 international students from more than 30 countries through online and residential programs, making it one of the most successful programs in the UC Extension system.
UC Irvine Extension held its
annual Certificate Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 16,
in the Social Sciences Lecture Hall on the UCI campus.
For the 2008-2009 fiscal year, UC Irvine Extension
awarded nearly 1,400 certificate and specialized studies
in 64 program categories. Dean Gary Matkin and Associate
Dean Jane Welgan presented the awards. In addition to
certificate awards, an alumni achievement award was also
presented.
“We’re pleased to honor the achievements of our continuing education students," said Gary W. Matkin, Ph.D., dean of continuing education at UC Irvine.
As the continuing education arm of UC Irvine, UC Irvine Extension is dedicated to providing a transforming learning experience for students. It maintains over 30,000 enrollments each year and offer hundreds of exciting courses and programs to people in Irvine, Southern California and global constituencies.
Professional Certificates are offered in multiple formats for convenience, on campus and online. Most Uc Irvine Extension students are working adults with college degrees, seeking career advancement and personal enrichment.
UC Irvine Extension strongly supports UC Irvine’s reputation for innovation. Its Distance Learning Center provides campus and other strategically selected organizations with distance learning services, including the development and delivery of courses using online technology.
