    Setting our path

    to the future

The University of California,  Irvine Foundation is the premier volunteer organization supporting the university.

The foundation's 43-member Board of Trustees is composed of leading philanthropists in Southern California from all walks of life ... business, medicine, law, science and public service.

The UC Irvine Foundation is the driving force of the "Shaping the Future" campaign that aspires to raise $1 billion to support key initiatives that will help realize the campus’ vision for the future.

Foundation trustees share UC Irvine’s vision to be regarded among America’s top-10 public universities and believe that, in order to have a world-class community you must have a world-class university.

A vast array of international and influential corporations have selected Orange County as the location for their corporate headquarters, making Orange County the 25th-largest economy in the world and the second-largest county in California.

Many of the chief executives of these companies serve on the University of California, Irvine Foundation board as trustees and ambassadors – providing their invaluable counsel and global perspective to the university.

The campaign was established by the foundation to support the overall strategic plan of the university. There are more than 50 different major initiatives in the campaign, and four overarching hallmarks of the university were identified by the foundation trustees in consultation with the university faculty and administration and the community.

Faculty champions have teamed with foundation trustees to marshal support for these hallmarks – identifying key projects in each area that have already attracted international acclaim and interest for UC Irvine and are indentified as "key drivers" for each hallmark of the university.

The foundation wants UC Irvine to be defined by what it aspires to be, rather than the challenges it has already overcome. The foundation’s Shaping the Future Campaign is an expression of that ideal.
